Port River Cruises is a family-owned and operated business sharing the wildlife, maritime history and cultural stories of Port Adelaide.
Backed by more than 30 years of marine tourism experience, our team offers welcoming and informative cruises through the Port River and Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary.
Since launching in August 2022, Port River Cruises has received recognition through the South Australian and Australian Tourism Awards.
Port Adelaide Ships Graveyard
The Port Adelaide Ships Graveyard is one of South Australia’s most important maritime heritage areas.
More than 25 historic vessels rest throughout the Port River, including former sailing ships, steamers and working vessels.
Some were deliberately sunk, scuttled or beached after their working lives ended.
ADELAIDE DOLPHIN SANCTUARY
The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary protects the Port River and surrounding habitat used by resident and visiting Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins.
Around 30 resident dolphins live within the sanctuary, with up to 400 transient dolphins visiting at different times.
Dolphins are wild animals, so sightings and interactions cannot be guaranteed.
Ancient Port River Mangroves
The Port River is home to an extensive mangrove environment that supports fish, birds, dolphins and other wildlife.
These mangroves form part of a wider ecosystem that includes saltmarsh, mudflats, seagrass and tidal waterways.
Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary
The Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary protects important habitat for resident and migratory shorebirds along the Gulf St Vincent coastline.
The wider Port River environment supports many bird species, including cormorants, pelicans, terns and migratory shorebirds.
